Robotic Surgery

Surgeons at the Hospital of Saint Raphael are using robotic technology to perform safe, minimally invasive procedures that result in quicker recovery times, fewer side effects, less pain and a quicker return to normal activities. Saint Raphael’s is one of only a few hospitals in the state to offer patients these advanced robotic technologies.

da Vinci® Si Surgical Robot

Robotic technology like the new da Vinci Si HD enables surgeons in a broad range of specialties to operate with greater precision than traditional surgery and with a better view of a patient’s anatomy. This advanced technology lets our surgeons take their skills to a new level.

Key features of the da Vinci:
• Fourth robotic arm allows for additional surgical applications
• High definition technology gives surgeons a more precise viewing area
• Dual console facilitates collaboration between surgeons

Applications:
• Colorectal surgery
• Urological surgery
• Gynecological surgery
• Thoracic surgery

CyberKnife® Robotic Radiosurgery System

Benefits of CyberKnife include:
• Treatment for otherwise inoperable tumors
• No pain
• No incisions or scarring
• No invasive head or body frame
• No anesthesia
• No hospitalization
• Targets multiple locations during a single session
• Accurately tracks tumors that move with breathing
• Outpatient procedure of 30 minutes to two hours
• Usually only 1 to 5 treatments
• Little to no recovery time – quick return to normal activity

Applications:
This noninvasive treatment can be used to treat tumors in the head, spine, lung, prostate, liver and pancreas.
