What Quality Means to Us

What quality means to the Saint Raphael Healthcare System

Quality care at the Hospital of Saint Raphael isn’t a program or a concept, it’s a key part of our mission.  We believe that delivering safe, compassionate care in a healing environment makes a difference in how we change lives and save lives.  With each diagnostic test we conduct, every dose of medication we administer and every surgery or procedure we perform, we never lose sight of our mission to connect with each patient and provide the best possible care.

Quality drives the efforts of all our staff from those in environmental services who keep our rooms and hallways safe and clean, to our food service providers who deliver nutritious meals on time, to our clinical staff who provide exceptional patient care – it is a collective responsibility that we at Saint Raphael’s all take very seriously.

When comparing the overall quality of hospitals, there are certain measures – patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes (how a patient is doing during and following a hospital treatment or stay) that can help you choose the medical care that’s right for you.

Why this information is important to you

When deciding where to go for health care, you and your doctor must be confident that the choice you make is right for you. Consider the quality of care: Are patients receiving the most appropriate/effective care? Is the care timely and focused on your needs as a patient?  Is it safe? This kind of information may be hard to find and even harder to understand.

The Hospital of Saint Raphael is committed to providing understandable, usable, and timely information on our quality and safety record – information that will help you make sound decisions and give you peace of mind. On this site, you can see quality measurements we use internally to assess how we’re doing, how our quality of care compares to other similar organizations (when that data is available), and what we’re doing to improve the care we deliver to our patients. This data may be only one factor in your decision, but it’s an important one.

Why our quality data is publicly available

Our quality data is publicly available to:

1. Provide our patients and our community with reliable information to make informed decisions about health care
2.  Offer honest and accurate data about the quality of the services we provide
3.  Help us evaluate and improve the way we deliver care and ensure patient safety

While we’re proud of our consistent efforts and progress, we continue to strive to provide the best care to meet and exceed the expectations of our patients and the very high standards we set for ourselves.  That means transparency and accountability in terms of how we’re rated for our performance.
