As a Catholic hospital, Saint Raphael’s places great importance on the pastoral care available to all of our patients, their families and staff, regardless of denomination. Our pastoral care team includes chaplains – ordained and lay – who represent these faiths:

Their mission, as members of a holistic healthcare team, is to provide interfaith ministry and education as well as access to spiritual resources that foster hope and promote healing. Our chaplains’ primary responsibility is to be with those who are ill and their loved ones. This occurs in the form of:
- Visits withinpatients and Emergency Department patients and their families;
- Visits withoutpatients in the hospital’s cancer center, dialysis unit, clinics, HIV services and substance abuse/recovery programs;
- Visits with thosewho are dying or the family members of those who have died;
- Bereavementseminars and counseling sessions;
- Interfaithremembrance services for bereaved employees.
- Spiritualityseminars; chaplains available to speak to parishes and congregations
- Daily CatholicMasses (Monday – Friday: 7:30 a.m. and Noon; Saturday: 4:00 P.M. (Vigil) and Sunday: 7:30 a.m.);
- Interfaithservices; and
- A ClinicalPastoral Education program.
There is a chaplain on call 24 hours a day in the hospital, and visits can be requested by patients or family members by asking the hospital operator to page the on-call chaplain.
