Internal Medicine
A Welcome Message from the Program Director
Thank you for your interest in the Internal Medicine Residency Program at the Hospital of Saint Raphael. Our curriculum is designed to teach the individual resident the fundamentals of quality patient care, the integration of basic medical knowledge into the clinical setting, and the professional demeanor expected of a physician. We strive to develop conscientious, compassionate clinicians who achieve a high level of competence in patient care. Here you will encounter a wide diversity of patients in a variety of clinical settings, supervised by outstanding, dedicated faculty.
Our residency program includes an innovative didactic curriculum that is aimed at helping each resident meet their professional and personal goals. We have a cadre of clinical educators whose main focus is the education of residents. We are affiliated with Yale School of Medicine, which affords our residents additional scholarly opportunities. But there is no question that what really makes this program special is our superb group of residents, who hail from the very best institutions across the world.
At the Hospital of Saint Raphael, we have been successful in creating an environment that is conducive to learning, while being supportive and friendly. Additionally, our trainees are prepared for whatever may follow: each year graduates of our program pursue opportunities in subspecialty fellowships, academic and non-academic hospital medicine, and primary care medicine.
I invite you to learn more about our program and its great tradition. If you match with the Hospital of Saint Raphael through the National Residency Matching Program, you will enjoy one of the finest educational experiences available in one of the country’s finest hospitals. On behalf of the entire faculty we appreciate your interest in the Hospital of Saint Raphael.
Robert J. Nardino, M.D.
