We pioneered such procedures as the beating-heart bypass and endoscopic vein harvesting. We were the first acute-care hospital in Connecticut to adopt technologies including:

- 3 Tesla MRI
- InSync ICD biventricular pacing system
- AXIOM Artis dFC magnetic navigation system for cardiac diagnostics, interventions and electrophysiology.
In recognition of our expertise, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Connecticut has designated the Hospital of Saint Raphael as a Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care. The criteria used to evaluate facilities for the Blue Distinction include the experience and training of surgeons, quality management programs, coordination of patient care between disciplines and preoperative patient education.
Our skilled physicians, nurses and other specialists perform close to 5,500 in- and outpatient cardiovascular procedures each year. We also host more than 4,500 cardiac rehabilitation patient visits every year.
