Father Michael J. McGivney Center for Cancer Care
7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
659 George Street, New Haven (location address)
The Father Michael J. McGivney Center for Cancer Care was created to provide a new dimension in care to cancer patients and their families. As a progressive outpatient cancer treatment facility, the Center combines state-of-the-art technology and treatment with social, emotional, holistic, and spiritual support services.
Advanced technology with compassionate care
Our spacious facilities accommodate the latest advances in technology, medicine and techniques. Saint Raphael’s offers such advanced cancer treatments as the daVinci robot for specialized surgical procedures and the CyberKnife® Stereotactic Radiosurgery System to search and destroy tumors anywhere in the body without incision, pain, bodily invasion, anesthesia, or recovery time.
We offer patients and family members convenient access to a comprehensive array of services within one location. The Center is focused on providing responsive, convenient and sensitive care. From the moment patients park in the dedicated area in front of the building, to the bright and comfortable reception area, to visiting their physician or receiving therapy in well-equipped and uniquely designed treatment rooms, the Center makes treatment easier and less stressful.
Saint Raphael’s innovative Looking Forward program provides complementary medicine that includes educational programs, gentle yoga, energy healing, chair massage and counseling. The Looking Forward Specialty Shop off the main lobby features hats, headwraps, jewelry, wigs, aromatherapy products, healing music CDs and more.
Educational materials through the American Cancer Society Resource Center
The American Cancer Society Resource Center offers informational pamphlets, educational brochures and a computer terminal on which patients and their caregivers can research various cancer treatments, side effects and programs/events and services offered through the ACS at www.cancer.org.
The computer can also be used to access Emmi®, an online educational program that translates complex medical procedures into easy-to-understand language so that patients have a better idea of what to expect before, during and after surgery or other medical procedures such as radiation therapy.
It’s all part of Saint Raphael’s comprehensive approach to cancer care – providing the latest technology, top experts and compassion that is key to healing, and a part of all we do.
Our supportive environment in the Hamden community
This supportive environment helps patients with their real priorities – getting healthy so they can get back to their families, careers, friends, and life. In 2009, we expanded into the surrounding community when we opened the new Hamden Cancer Center.
With more than 50 years of experience treating cancer, Saint Raphael’s is committed to helping people overcome this disease.
