Pediatricians
Dr. Annette Cameron, MD, F.A.A.P.
Dr. Cameron is a Board Certified Pediatrician who received an undergraduate degree in biology from Queens College. She completed her medical school training at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in 1998. From 1998 to 2001, she was a pediatric intern and resident at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. She joined the Hospital of Saint Raphael Pediatric Group in 2001. Dr. Cameron is fluent in Spanish and loves teaching and helping children stay healthy.
Maryellen Flaherty-Hewitt, MD, F.A.A.P.
Dr. Flaherty-Hewitt is a Board Certified Pediatrician who received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry / pre-medicine from The College of the Holy Cross. She received her medical degree from the State University of New York, Health Science Center at Brooklyn in 1998. Dr. Flaherty-Hewitt completed her residency and chief residency training in Pediatrics at the New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell Medical Center Campus in 2002. She joined the Hospital of Saint Raphael in 2002 and is currently the Section Chief of Pediatrics. Over the past several years, Dr. Flaherty-Hewitt has been honored as one of Connecticut’s Top Docs by her peers in Connecticut Magazine. Dr. Flaherty has a passion for what she does with a particular interest in developmental screening.
Jessie Long, MDDr. Long recently joined the Hospital of Saint Raphael as a Pediatrician after completing her residency training at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital in July 2010. Dr. Long received a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience at Lafayette College and received her medical degree at Jefferson Medical College. Dr. Long comes with new and innovative training as well as experience caring for children in a level 1 trauma center for children.
Shilpa Pai, MD.,F.A.A.P.
Dr. Shilpa Pai received a bachelor’s degree in urban studies at Brown University and her medical degree at Brown Medical School in 2001. She completed her residency training at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in 2004. Dr. Pai continued at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for a year as a clinical instructor and then joined the Hospital of Saint Raphael in 2005. Dr. Pai has a particular interest in child advocacy and resident education. She is fluent in Hindi, Marathi, Gujurati and Spanish.
Ann Sahakian, MD, F.A.A.P.
Dr. Sahakian is a Board Certified Pediatrician who received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at The College of the Holy Cross. She worked for 2 years as an analytical chemist at Merck and then went to New York Medical College where she earned her medical degree. Dr. Sahakian completed her residency training at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in 2008. After completing her residency, Dr. Sahakian served as an attending pediatrician at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and as a pediatrician with Kaiser Permanente and Descanso Pediatrics in La Canada, California. Dr. Sahakian joined the Hospital of Saint Raphael in 2009 and has a passion for helping children with multiple medical problems.
Leslie Sude, MD, F.A.A.P.
Dr. Leslie Sude is a Board Certified Pediatrician who received her medical degree from Medical College of Pennsylvania. Dr. Sude completed her residency training at the University of Michigan Medical Center in 1991. She has 18 years of experience working as a pediatrician all over the country. Dr. Sude has a particular interest in preparing new parents and families for international adoptions.
Richard Young, MD, F.A.A.P.
Dr. Richard Young is Board Certified in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Neurology. He received a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Young completed his residency training in pediatrics and neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital in 1980. For several years, Dr. Young has been honored by his peers as one of Connecticut’s Top Docs in Connecticut Magazine. Dr. Young is fluent in Spanish and a Colonel in the Connecticut Army National Guard. He is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
