Interventional Radiologists
Interventional Radiologists are specialists who perform minimally invasive procedures using images traditionally associated with radiology to guide them. Some procedures are performed strictly for diagnostic purposes (e.g., angiogram), while others are done as treatment (e.g., angioplasty). Images used to direct the procedures are often done with needles or tiny instruments such as small tubes known as catheters. The images provide road maps that help the Interventional Radiologist guide these instruments through the body to the areas containing diseases.
