About Us and Our Services

Our location adjacent to our sister healthcare provider, the Hospital of Saint Raphael, provides access to a wide range of health services, including a board-certified geriatrician, a physician specializing in the needs of older adults and a Senior Assessment Program. The Sister Anne Virginie Grimes Health Center is licensed by the State of Connecticut, and accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

  • Our Mission:
    The Sister Anne Virginie Grimes Health Center’s mission is caring. We advance the healing ministry of Jesus Christ by providing high quality, cost effective elder health care services ranging from restorative care to supportive long-term care.*

    Guided by the sponsorship values of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, we are motivated by respect for all, and pledge ourselves to treat all persons with compassion according to the principles of dignity, charity and justice.

    * The Grimes Center welcomes patients of all faiths and allows for worship, when desired, in accordance with each patient’s beliefs. Pastoral care is an optional service. Clergy of all faiths are welcome.

    Visiting Hours:
    We encourage you to visit your loved one as often as possible. Children are always welcome at the Sister Anne Virginie Grimes Health Center.

    In general, visiting hours for both short-term rehabilitation and long-term residential care are:
    11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Monday through Sunday

    Extended hours can be arranged with the head nurse or supervisor on an individual basis.

    From New York I-95 North
    From New London I-95 South

    Follow sign to Downtown New Haven Route 34 Connector. Take Exit 3 off the connector onto Frontage Road. At the sixth light, take a right on Orchard Street. At the next light, take a right onto George Street. The George Street entrance is the first driveway on the left.

    We provide free, safe, secure private parking and a drive-up area right at the front lobby.
