Psychiatry – A Welcome Message

Psychiatry – A Welcome Message

Marshal Mandelkern, M.D., Ph.D.
Chairman, Department of Psychiatry

Welcome to the Hospital of Saint Raphael’s Department of Psychiatry. We are dedicated to providing the best possible care of psychiatric illness, in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, to children, adolescents and adults.

We offer inpatient care on two units, one for adults over the age of 18, and one for children and adolescents. Our inpatient treatment teams are composed of specially trained psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, as well as occupational and recreational therapists.

Our Emergency Service is staffed by social workers and psychiatrists and is available to assess patients in acute need.  We evaluate the patient’s immediate needs, and are able to refer him/her to the appropriate level of care.

We offer a variety of services to outpatients, including our new Branford Adolescent Day Hospital offering services on the Shoreline.

We look forward to providing you with effective, timely, respectful care.
