ABOUT THE PHARMACY
The Hospital of Saint Raphael Department of Pharmacy Services is focused on delivering quality pharmaceutical care. Cardinal Health provides pharmacy management services. The pharmacy, staffed with about 25 pharmacists and 30 technicians, is open 24/7 and has two satellite locations. Among the department’s many services and features are:

  • Computerized-provider order entry
  • Pyxis® automated dispensing devices
  • Pyxis Profile® drug distribution
  • Continuous service and sterile products preparation from central pharmacy
  • Inpatient rounds
  • Outpatient Anticoagulation Clinic
  • Outpatient Oncology Clinic

Pharmacists are involved in a variety of activities, including participation on patient care rounds, teaching, and committee work. The hospital’s Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee is supported by work of several subcommittees. These include Anesthesia, Cardiology, Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Adverse Drug Events, and Drug Research Study. In addition, pharmacists manage an outpatient Anticoagulation Clinic and provide services to an outpatient Oncology Clinic.

ANTICOAGULATION CLINIC
The Anticoagulation Clinic offers numerous services to eligible patients who meet specific criteria. Services include patient education, international normalized ratio testing, and management of warfarintherapy by pharmacists, working with other healthcare providers. The clinic, within the Adult Primary Care Clinic, is open by appointment 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays and Fridays.
