“Healing Grief” seminars

Several times during the year a seminar is offered describing the natural grieving process. Resources and actions that might be helpful to the bereaved are suggested.

Attendance at this seminar is required for those who wish to join our support groups.
Participants are welcome to attend the seminar, however, with no commitment to join a group.

Bereavement support groups

A seven-week support group series follows each “Healing Grief” seminar. Professionally facilitated, the small group sessions encourage mutual understanding in a non-judgmental and hopeful atmosphere. Through sharing of common experiences and concerns, group members discover strengths and insights to aid them in their adjustment and healing process.

Counseling sessions

Counseling Sessions with our bereavement counselor are available by appointment for individuals or families. Referrals may also be made to other community resources or psychotherapists.

Remembrance Services

Interfaith services of remembrance are held during the year for patients who have died at Saint Raphael’s.

Quarterly remembrance services are offered for bereaved staff of the hospital.

Once a year we offer a special service to remember infants who have died.

Families and friends are encouraged to attend all services.

Coping with the Holidays

A special program is offered in early November for the bereaved who are anticipating the holiday season.
