There are two clinical trials for prostate cancer treatment. The purpose of
first study (P-0014) is to determine which of the following treatment regimens
are more effective in reducing the long-term recurrence or progression of
prostate cancer:
- Androgen blockade (hormone therapy) with four cycles of immediate chemotherapy ;
OR
- Androgen blockade with delayed chemotherapy

This study is for men with intermediate risk prostate cancer. This is a
phase III trial.
The purpose of the second study (RTOG 0232) is to is to determine which of
the following treatment regimens are more effective in reducing the long-term
recurrence or progression of prostate cancer:
- Brachytherapy (radioactive seed implant) plus external beam radiation therapy
OR

This study is for men with intermediate risk prostate cancer.
This is a phase III trial.
