 Some patients are placed on hormone therapy after radioactive seed implantation. Prostate cancer cells need testosterone to grow, and several types of hormone therapy can slow the growth and spread of cancer cells by changing the amount of testosterone in your body.
Your radiation oncologist, urologist or other physicians can discuss the types of hormone therapy available to prostate cancer patients and explain the benefits and side effects of each one.
