Your follow-up care will begin the day after your implantation
procedure and continue for several years.
On the day after implantation, you will return to the McGivney
Center for an X-ray. This X-ray will verify the seed count.
One month later, a CT scan of the prostate will be taken to
calculate a precise dose distribution of radiation that was
delivered during the implantation. (This is an important quality
assurance procedure that enables your radiation oncologist to
maintain the highest standard of care.)
Three months after implantation, you will have your first follow-up
visit. During this exam, the results of the CT scan analysis will be
discussed with you, your PSA (prostate-specific antigen) level will
be checked and you will undergo an examination.
Both your urologist and radiation oncologist will monitor you and
provide assistance whenever necessary.
