As a leader in the battle against prostate cancer, the hospital has pioneered radioactive seed implantation, external beam radiation therapy, and recently became one of the few centers in the state to offer intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). Prostate cancer is one of the most common diseases facing
American men today, with a recent study estimating the risk
of prostate cancer at 1 in 6. Screenings for prostate cancer
are now conducted as a regular part of annual physicals, so
men are being diagnosed earlier – at younger ages and earlier
stages of the disease. There are a number of treatment options,
