Possible signs and symptoms of early head and neck cancers
|
Many of the warning signs for head and neck cancer -- such as hoarseness,
nasal blockage or a neck mass -- also occur with minor injuries or
illnesses like the common cold. The best practical advice is to consult
a physician if these or similar symptoms worsen, or are not resolved,
within a few weeks.
- White or red patch on the gums, tongue or lining of the mouth
- Unusual mouth bleeding
- Chin, jaw or neck swelling
- Blocked sinuses that won't clear, or sinus infections that don't respond to antibiotics
- Chronic, frequent nosebleeds
- Upper teeth pain
- Face muscle numbness or paralysis
- Face, chin or neck pain that won't go away
- Severe or chronic ear pain or ringing
- Trouble breathing, speaking, swallowing or hearing
- Chronic, severe headaches
- Neck lumps
