Consultation
|
At your initial consultation, a radiation oncology nurse will meet with you to obtain a brief medical history. She will also assess your need for emotional and/or social support. Your radiation oncologist will then meet with you to discuss the treatment plan and perform a physical exam. He or she will also review the results of your mammogram, surgery and X-rays with you. You will learn about the treatment and any anticipated side effects. Before you leave, we will make an appointment for your simulation session.

It is common for radiation therapy treatment to be planned
after your surgery, and sometimes after chemotherapy.
