It is common for radiation therapy treatment to be planned
after your surgery, and sometimes after chemotherapy.
At your initial consultation, a radiation oncology nurse
will meet with you to obtain a brief medical history. She
will also assess your need for emotional and/or social support.
Your radiation oncologist will then meet with you to discuss
the treatment plan and perform a physical exam. He or she will
also review the results of your mammogram, surgery and X-rays
with you. You will learn about the treatment and any anticipated
side effects.
Before you leave, we will make an appointment for your
simulation session.
