Eligible women needing a hysterectomy now have the option of choosing
minimally invasive robotic surgery with the
daVinci Surgical System.
This amazing, state-of-the-art machine offers improved surgical accuracy, better patient outcomes and less post-operative pain. Robotic hysterectomy patients are typically able to go home as early as the day after their surgery -- a stark contrast to the typical three- to four-day hospital stay for a conventional hysterectomy procedure -- and are back to normal activities in about two weeks, rather than the traditional four to six.
Plans are also in place to use the da Vinci for minimally invasive forms of other normally extensive gynecological surgeries, including ovary, ovarian cyst and fibroid tumor removal. For more information, call Saint Raphael’s Department of Women’s & Children’s Services at (203) 789-3661 or speak with your physician.
