Highlights of Saint Raphael's community involvement
True to its mission, the Hospital of Saint Raphael continues
its service to the community, with special concern for the poor,
elderly and underserved. Community involvement in 2006 included:
- Project ElderCare operates six clinics, located primarily in senior
housing complexes in New Haven and West Haven, making healthcare services more accessible for the elderly.
- Over 1,100 calls and office visits were made to the statewide Parkinson Information and Referral Center. For information or an appointment, call (203) 789-3436.
- The Parish Nurse Program's 147 volunteers served 46 churches and
provided cholesterol and blood pressure screenings, flu shots,
educational programs and parish health fairs.
- Monthly blood pressure screenings were conducted in conjunction with
VNA Services, Inc., at seven community sites in Hamden, Branford, East

- The Healthy Aging Line (203-789-3275) is a dedicated phone
line to help people of various ages typically from early 50s and up
more easily navigate through the Saint Raphael Healthcare System.
- CareCard, a health and wellness membership program for adults 55 and older,
has nearly 22,000 members. The year activities and events included excercise classes, health screening, driver safety classes and much more.
