True to its mission, the Hospital of Saint Raphael continues its service to the community, with special concern for the poor, elderly and underserved. Community involvement in 2006 included:
  • Project ElderCare operates six clinics, located primarily in senior housing complexes in New Haven and West Haven, making healthcare services more accessible for the elderly.

  • Over 1,100 calls and office visits were made to the statewide Parkinson Information and Referral Center. For information or an appointment, call (203) 789-3436.
  • The Parish Nurse Program's 147 volunteers served 46 churches and provided cholesterol and blood pressure screenings, flu shots, educational programs and parish health fairs.

  • Monthly blood pressure screenings were conducted in conjunction with VNA Services, Inc., at seven community sites in Hamden, Branford, East Haven and Orange. For information and schedule, call (203) 789-3275.
  • The Healthy Aging Line (203-789-3275) is a dedicated phone line to help people of various ages typically from early 50s and up more easily navigate through the Saint Raphael Healthcare System.

  • CareCard, a health and wellness membership program for adults 55 and older, has nearly 22,000 members. The year activities and events included excercise classes, health screening, driver safety classes and much more.
