Community service & stewardship
We're here to lend a hand. This is what we do. The same people who give to patients and their families all day long are often the same people that find time to give in other ways.
We're often there to lend our feet, too! Every year, employees participate in walkathons, road races, and other community activities to raise money for charities in our community who need help. Many employees even train for these events in organized lunchtime fitness walks.
Here are some groups and organizations where our employees volunteer their time, or serve as representatives of Saint Raphael's:
American Cancer Society
American Diabetes Association
American Red Cross
Boy Scouts
Central Connecticut Coast YMCA
Clifford Beers Child Guidance Clinic
Columbus House
Commission for Substance Abuse Policy and Prevention, City of New Haven
Community Soup Kitchen
Coordinating Council for Children in Crisis
Gateway College Foundation Board
International Festival of Arts & Ideas
Habitat for Humanity
Jewish Home for the Aged
Life Haven
New Haven Public Education Fund
New Haven Symphony
Rideworks
Ronald McDonald House
Reaching out to the community
Each year, Saint Raphael employees help the community through the One For All Fund, Saint Raphael's employee giving program.
One For All was created in 1983 as a vehicle for Saint Raphael employees to donate money to not-for-profit organizations in Greater New Haven and beyond. In 2001, employees donated to more than 150 organizations that provide food, shelter, health care, counseling and other services.
What makes One For All unique is that employees can choose the charities they wish to give to. Because employee volunteers run the One For All campaign and Saint Raphael's covers all administrative costs, 100 percent of the money donated to One For All goes to those charities.
