The Hospital of Saint Raphael is one of 400 United States medical centers participating in a major cancer clinical trial called STAR. The study is looking at whether the osteoporosis prevention drug raloxifene is as effective in reducing the chance of developing invasive breast cancer in healthy women as tamoxifen has proven to be. Call (203) 867-5425 for more information. Eligible participants are women who:
- Have gone through menopause
- Are at least 35 years old
- Have an increased risk of breast cancer because of age, family/medical history, age at first menstrual period or age at first live birth
