The Hospital of Saint Raphael's is pleased to offer Phillips Lifeline with AutoAlert, a new medical alert device that detects falls and automatically calls for help when a user cannot press the alert button. A new stroke treatment protocol at the Hospital of Saint Raphael is offering some patients a wider window of time to benefit from a brain-saving drug. The Hospital of Saint Raphael has named Mario W. Katigbak, M.D., a specialist in lung cancer and minimally invasive surgery, as director of Thoracic Oncology.  Dr. Katigbak specializes in minimally invasive surgery for benign and malignant diseases of the thoracic cavity, including esophagectomies, endoscopic interventions and VATS lobectomy, a cutting-edge surgery for early stage lung cancer that uses video technology. January 15, 2010 - Sen. Dodd Speaks on Healthcare Reform at the Hospital of Saint Raphael
Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) visited the Hospital of Saint Raphael Monday to speak to employees about healthcare issues and the reform bill passed by the Senate on Christmas Eve.  If the bill, entitled the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, becomes law, it would extend health coverage to 31 million people who are currently uninsured and add new insurance regulations and Medicare benefits.  Full Story
