Renovation is underway for the Birth Center at the Hospital of Saint Raphael with construction beginning the summer of 2010 on the new maternity unit.
Located in the Sister Louise Anthony Building of the hospital, the center will feature labor and delivery rooms with soothing colors and lighting, a family-friendly lobby and a state-of-the-art nurse's station. The all new contemporary design will better match the progressive care model of the unit which encompasses labor & delivery, the mother/baby unit with a room for family members and the maternity department.
With
soft lighting, soothing artwork and spa-style features such as therapeutic massage, the new unit is designed to promote patient comfort and relaxation.
In addition to the renovated units, maternity patients will continue to benefit from Saint Raphael's advanced care for premature and at-risk babies in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for babies as young as 28 weeks gestation and special testing and care for high-risk patients in the Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit.
