Pharmacy Training
RESIDENCY PROGRAM AND STUDENT TRAINING
Cardinal Health and the Hospital of Saint Raphael offer both a one-year post-graduate
pharmacy practice residency program as well as training for pharmacy students. The residency
program is aimed at providing a wide range of educational opportunities and experiences and is
uniquely adapted to fit the needs and interests of each resident. By being at Saint Raphael’s,
pharmacy students experience a variety of clinical rotations and educational programs.
Residency Overview
The Pharmacy Practice residency program, which begins July 1, is accredited by the American Society
of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). The pharmacy residency is designed to provide many valuable and
informative opportunities for residents. Residents participate in a variety of required and elective
patient care rotations, gain experience in management and automation, and hone written and oral
presentation skills throughout the year. They take part in patient safety activities such as adverse
drug reaction and medication variance reporting, and opportunities exist for research. Funding is also
given to attend a national meeting (e.g., ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting) and the Eastern Residency
Conference. Residents may also attend a pharmacy resident leadership conference through Cardinal Health.
